Interview
Hiring at Cisco Canada is a joke. They are a fair distance away from how Cisco carries itself as in other parts of the world. The HR had someone else's resume for my initial phone screening and wasted my time. When we rescheduled that call, Cisco Webex crashed during and the HR did not even bother to try and reconnect. I just got an email a few days later saying I had been selected for the next round. Obviously, the phone screening was a massive waste of my time. No apologies at any point whatsoever. Imagine if things where the other way around - if I thought I was interviewing with Microsoft, Google, Apple instead of Cisco or if my phone connection was shoddy and unprofessional!
The final round consisted of a panel interview and a sales role play that was shared the day before the interview. Guess what crashed during the role play? Yes, Cisco Webex! Guess what this VSAM was supposed to be responsible for selling? Cisco Webex! I have absolutely no trust in Cisco Webex having seen it crash twice just during my interview. I also had a chance to meet with several Cisco employees during the interview and almost all them appeared to be over smart, arrogant, superficial salespeople who were putting on a show for the day!
I was told that the HR would get back to me with the decision as well as the feedback within a week. And perhaps this was the most shocking part of the interview process. First I get told that they really liked me but want to consider me for another VSS position and would get back to me in 2 weeks. After not hearing from them for over 2 weeks, I get in touch with them and get told that the position would come about 'later in the winter'. If you know anything about Canada, our winters last for 6 months. I followed up again after a couple of months and get told that the position is in Montreal and not Toronto. When I tell the HR I am open to relocating to Montreal she says I have a background in Telecom and not security so I cant not be considered for the position. One excuse after another. The HR was clearly and strategically leaving me hanging without having the guts to say I had not been selected.
Stay clear of Cisco Canada!

I had what I thought was a great interview with a woman from HR. She was having some computer and phone problems which was no issue but she had to call me back a couple of times after the call kept dropping.
She said I was referred by the hiring manager who saw my resume and wanted to schedule another interview with him for the following week. I agreed and she promised she would call me back on that Friday to schedule.
I never heard back from her. I sent emails to her and was completely ghosted.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cisco in Dec 2020
