I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at City Year in May 2010
Interview
I applied to City Year HQ during the February deadline. I completed a phone interview a couple weeks after being applying. I was notified mid-late March that I was being recommended for the site in Philadelphia and that my application would be forwarded. I then got a phone interview with CYGP in early May. I was notified of acceptance in June.

Very simple. Quick virtual interview and pretty simple questions. Research their values and what not and you should be good to go. As far as I remember it was a single interview and decision is relatively soon after that.
Really friendly and welcoming. Try to make it as comfortable as possible and share about the work they do. They want to ensure applicants are making the right decisions and that they assess the values.
