After applying online and completing the application form, I received an email asking to schedule a phone interview. It consisted of a simple phone interview lasting 15-30 minutes with a current City Year Team Leader asking question about past volunteer/teaching experience, goals for participating in the program, and future career aspirations.

Why you are applying to City Year and what you are hoping to accomplish.
Very simple. Quick virtual interview and pretty simple questions. Research their values and what not and you should be good to go. As far as I remember it was a single interview and decision is relatively soon after that.
Really friendly and welcoming. Try to make it as comfortable as possible and share about the work they do. They want to ensure applicants are making the right decisions and that they assess the values.

Done over zoom and not an overly long process interviews are usually conducted by the IM for a school in the city you are applying for but if you have a pulse you should be fine
