Two parties contacted me to schedule an interview at the same time, the recruiter and the admin for the functional group. It turned out that neither party knew that the other was also in contact with me. The interview was with three people, including a person currently in the role. Even though I have been in the clinical research industry for 24 years, including 16 years in a position to manage clinical research sites such as this, they could not seem to grasp the value that I brought to the role. Indeed, even though they work with people in my former position multiple times every day (it is the primary point of contact between the site and trial sponsor), they did not seem to know what the job even was or required. The HR rep on the call made a few baseless and incorrect assumptions about my career experience. The call with the recruiter happened a couple of days later and I explained what happened during the interview and they apologized for the poor interview. They said that the correct process was for the recruiter to speak with the candidate first, to prep the interview team. I said that I would appreciate a second interview, as the structure at the site appealed to me greatly and I would love to work at such a site. But I did not get the second interview. I think it highly likely that they already had an internal candidate in mind for the position, so I wish they had not wasted my time applying and interviewing. I also expected much better from such a prestigious institution.
