I only had an initial phone screen. The employer called the day after I applied to tell me more about the job, at which point I concluded it was not for me and thanked her for following up so quickly. The job posting indicated a fairly wide salary range, the higher end comparable to what I'm making now, but on the call, I was quoted at not quite the bottom end of that range with the potential to increase that to $1 more "based on production", with the committment to overtime basically whenever as needed, including weekends, and shifts lasting "until completion," meaning theoretically, some would be drastically short and others unreasonably long. I'm guessing now that the higher end of the salary estimate range was only what you'd earn for the overtime at time-and-a-half and not a base starting wage, but the posting did not indicate that. Altogether, not the job for me. I can type almost 3 times the minimum speed they were looking for, and though I have put in the occasional overtime with other jobs, (working from home, there are definitely times I've chosen to work through dinner or during the weekends) at this stage in my life, I want more consistency in shifts than "daily till as long as we need you plus weekend availability." Pulling 5 12's, even without weekend time, would be an OK cumulative wage, but I need sleep and time with my family, too. Probably would have been great right after college when I still had that level of energy and lack of social commitments.
