You are give a case to complete before your first interview (Lyft driver/rider case mentioned in other reviews). The case is challenging and it takes time to do all the number crunching. Once you complete the case you are invited to an in-person interview. Here is what you need to realize: everyone who submits a case is invited to the first in-person interview. You haven't actually "passed" anything based on the quality of the answer you submit. At the first interview you will be challenged on your case. It was clear that the interviewer was reading the case for the first time during the interview. They asked irrelevant questions because they hadn't taken time to actually read what I wrote and understand my thought process. Most of the time the interviewer was challenging my assumptions and the method I had used to solve the case - except is was clear they hadn't read what I submitted and did NOT understand what I did. Frustrating experience overall as I was not given the opportunity to showcase the relevant experience and skills I brought to the role. To anyone considering interviewing: although the case is all about number crunching, YOU ARE NOT BEING RATED ON YOUR ANALYTIC ABILITIES. You are (probably) being rated on your ability to stay cool and to brush off challenges from people who don't know what they are talking about. I wish I had known that upfront - I would not have invested the time to even solve the case.
