      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Cloudflare in Jun 2022

      Interview

Pros: Really quick interview process. I had 3 interview days with 5 people total. This was structured as an interview with the hiring manager, followed by an interview with the recruiter for that role, followed by three back-to-back interviews (replacing what would normally be an in-person panel interview.) This was all done over Google Meet. From the day I applied to my final interview only took 7 business days. It was clear from the questions I was asked that the people who were interviewing me were extremely knowledgeable. The people I spoke to were also very easy to talk to and clearly very passionate about their field. This was the best interview experience I had ever had until I got to the last portion of my panel interview. The last person I interviewed with was someone who had nothing to do with the team I was interviewing for or any HR function. I was also not informed of who this person would be ahead of time, which was not the case for any of the previous interviewers. The whole final interview was in very stark contrast with the preceding interviews. The interviewer barely introduced themselves and jumped into questions immediately. The content of their questions and their very repetitive follow-up questions also indicated that they had very limited knowledge of the teams and duties relevant to the position I was interviewing for. Ultimately I did not receive an offer. Had I received an offer I would have been happy to join as this seems like a company that really understands and practices, and the team I was interviewing for clearly has some very passionate and talented people on it. However, the final interview left me with the sense that Cloudflare’s internal organization and culture are not as positive or consistent as they appear at first glance.
