I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CoStar Group (Houston, TX)
Interview
Three step process, you of course apply online and have a phone interview or two, then a personality test and a interview In person. On your personality of course if you are hiring for sales position you will be questioned based on old outdated techniques for outside or inside sales as in being the pushy care sales men back in the 1970's rather then a knowledgeable professional sales person with great personality and attention to detail with great follow up. If your a sales person that has been in the industry for a while though, you already know the test they use and some of the companies are actually still stuck in the 80's and haven't actually caught up with todays time and resources. Just know that any questions you ask them you will be given bs answers. You need to do your own homework and see what prior employees say. It is a great company with opportunity if you really need a job but if you are currently in a good situation or have a few options you will probably want to go another direction.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
all the typical questions if you do not have outside sales experience then you don't know that you will need to show a prior track record showing your sales experience and basically your numbers or results to prove your a good sales person. If you make it to the final interview, just be ready to do a role playing with either the manager or another sales executive
Q: What was one thing that they asked you? And yes they provide health and disability but be careful since a college of mine that I became good friends with while working for the company, was seriously injured and unable to work and when short term disability approved them for receiving the insurance, the company technically fired them which in turn cancels the disability insurance since the company only pays for it if you are an active employee. He was even injured on company time and was not even going after the company but just trying to get treated and they did this to him. Very unethical so if you get injured, beware and know you are basically the same as self employees but you only make a fraction of what you could make actually being self employed without the fake or false feeling of having benefits.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at CoStar Group in May 2026
Interview
Recruiter reached out. Video interview, followed by an in-person interview with the hiring manager where I was asked to conduct a presentation on something I’ve sold previously. That was followed by a quick video interview with a director. Received an offer, which I accepted... I was then told the offer was rescinded a week or so later due to something being flagged related to employment verification on the background check. I asked the recruiter for clarification and she refused to provide citing HIPAA laws as preventing her from being more specific (HIPAA refers to medical privacy, not sure how that applied). I then retrieved my background report, pointed out the flag appeared to refer to my employer’s payroll company as being mistaken as my current employer. In response, I was informed my offer being rescinded had nothing to do with the employment verification or background check at all and was simply a business decision the company made.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Present whatever you are currently selling or have sold previously in a PowerPoint.
The interview process was lengthy for me, its three interviews and they take a while to get back. Have to do a sales role play as a part of the second interview.

This was just the initial interview. The recruiter was nice but talked at me for the most part which was fine because I needed to know about the role. I have a second interview with the regional manager
