The recruiting process started well. The recruiter contacted me, completed an initial screening, and scheduled a one-hour interview with an Associate Partner.
Unfortunately, the interview was canceled via Microsoft Teams approximately nine minutes before the scheduled start time. I immediately followed up with the recruiter to express my continued interest and ask about rescheduling. I did not receive a response. A few days later, I received an automated email stating that I was no longer being considered for the position.
I understand that hiring priorities can change and that client commitments may require interviews to be rescheduled. My disappointment was not with the hiring decision itself, but with the lack of communication after the cancellation. A brief update acknowledging the cancellation or advising that the position had moved in another direction would have made for a much more positive candidate experience.
Interview questions: Initial recruiter screening focused on healthcare payer consulting experience, leadership background, and overall fit for the Senior Consulting Manager role. The scheduled hiring manager interview did not occur due to the last-minute cancellation.
