This has been the worst interview I have experienced in my entire life.
This is what I sent to the recruiter hours after my interview. I am still in shock of how the interview was conducted.
I want to thank you for considering me for the candidacy of the Business Account Manager role. I appreciate you giving me a call advising me I was not selected to proceed with the next following steps. I appreciate you allowing me to express my feedback on the process. Some things could have been handled differently and not by you, Judith; you have been fantastic to work with throughout the process (keep being awesome) :-).
I verbally expressed my interview experience with Jeff Luchs and Amy Moncue. Today was a horrendous experience, something that I have never dealt with. However, I am sending an email to document my experience in hopes that no candidate ever feels how I felt and in hopes this matter will be addressed internally with human resource and executive leadership. Hours after leaving the interview, I was still in shock and disbelief at the attitude, disrespect and rudeness I was met with this morning.
As a recently unemployed individual seeking employment, this has been one of the worst interviews I have encountered thus far.
In short, I arrived for my interview 15 minutes early to ensure that I was on time and didn't encounter any traffic delays, and that was, in my opinion, looked at as a negative because their words were, "Well, you'll have to wait because you're early." It wasn't what was said. It was how it was said that made me feel uncomfortable. While going through the interview, within 10-15 minutes, Amy stated I don't think you're a good fit, and you have to remember you're going up against Telco and Verizon people also; Verizon just did a reorganization. I sat there confused and immediately discouraged as to why this information was being shared with me during an interview in the beginning. Then, it clicked in my head that she counted me out before I could share my professional experience. She then said Comcast has excellent benefits and to keep trying for other positions. She also told me she had interviewed 47 candidates, and I needed to match the other candidates' skills. She also stated Judith is putting anybody in front of us. At that point, I felt worthless and less than human (dehumanized), given she had just said, "She's putting anybody in front of us.", WOW what a stab in the chest to say that to a candidate referencing me as anybody. I was not allowed to be viewed for my skills, considering she just said I was anybody.
I completely understand if my skills align differently with her vision or the team dynamics. The issue is not that I was not considered for the position; the concern is how the interview was conducted, the harsh things stated, and the tone used. As someone with years of managerial experience who has led a team and interviewed hundreds of candidates, I would have never treated a candidate with such disrespect and uninterest. As much as I try my hardest never to pull the race card, my race and skin played a significant part in what was said to me and how I was treated from the beginning; there is no other excuse to warrant such behavior.
Candidates undergo a great deal of preparation for interviews; I was met with rudeness and disrespect, which is hugely disheartening from an organization I have valued and done and will continue to do business with personally.
This email is to bring awareness to what candidates are experiencing or possibly have experienced. For such a reputable organization, I know this is not Comcast's vision; I feel that Comcast has an incredible mission statement, and this issue does not depict Comcast as a whole. I will continue pursuing employment opportunities, hoping that I will one day be seen and viewed for my skills, dedication, and hard work.
