Three-part interview; video-recorded, phone screen & then finally an in-person. The day prior to my in-person I was asked to reschedule due to a conflict so that both managers could physically be there. On the day of the in-person I waited about 35 minutes, though I did show up 20 minutes early. I then learned that the manager the role reported to was out of the office and would be connecting virtually. The manager on-site spoke about how tech-forward the company was, faced a laptop at me, and we began. I have held and participated in many Webex sessions , but this was honestly very distracting, especially for a first-time meeting for a hopeful role, as the connection continuously froze/buffered before ultimately dropping completely. This seemed to happen every time the hiring manager either asked a question, or as I was answering a question from the manager in the room. I suggested dialing over speakerphone, and was told no, she'd fill her in. She then started messaging on her laptop, and advised me that she may be requesting a phone call to continue the conversation. She pretty much ended it there. I won't say it was negative, I just feel that I didn't get a chance to really present myself to the hiring manager which was disappointing since it's hard to even get a foot in the door for an interview. Also, I know things happen and technology isn't always perfect, but I found it odd that a phone/cable/internet provider couldn't hold a steady connection in a situation like this.
