      Senior Scala Engineer Interview

      Jan 12, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at CompStak in Dec 2020

      Interview

I provided my salary expectations and I assumed if it's known and we continue the process, then it means they accepted it. That's what a serious company does. Not in the case of CompStak. So the live coding session went excellent. I did everything what I was asked within the requirements and time, after finishing the task I got random ad hoc and extra requests which I fulfilled as well. The interview was just curious if I was able to provide them. Yes, I was. And I saw he was more than happy with the overall outcome. Then, after literally one month of waiting (there were winter holidays and end of the year, but come on) I got a feedback they didn't feel I am senior enough for them (several years of working in Scala here). And they proposed me lower salary than they knew from the beginning. Like, really? Overall rate: Avoid, it's nothing but a waste of time.

We're sorry that your experience interviewing with CompStak was not ideal. We do encourage all feedback and appreciate you taking the time to raise your concerns. As you stated, you came to us via a recruiter who represented your candidacy. In such cases, any communication, including interview progression, is done via the recruiter. In your particular case, we sent our decision notice, via email, two days after your third interview directly to your representation. Unfortunately, the recruiter dropped the ball on getting back to you. I realize how frustrating that could be, but I assure you that it was not our intention. After discovering your feedback, we have immediately contacted you by email to try to resolve this misunderstanding. Unfortunately, we have been unable to speak. Still, I would like to assure you that, due to your feedback, we have updated our communication policies to make sure that we directly communicate with our engaged candidates who came via an external recruiter. I hope that these changes will mitigate any possibly similar issues, and for that, we thank you. We wish you good luck in your career and your current and future job searches.
