I loved everyone I met at Confluent during an interview for a marketing role and was feeling very excited/confident about getting an offer. I had a phone interview with the recruiter, a video interview with the hiring manager (we clicked immediately), and video calls with a few other team members. Then, I heard from the recruiter they went with an internal candidate. It was extremely frustrating because it was very clear I got along with everyone well and would have been an amazing fit for the role, pretty much all for nothing. It left a bad taste in my mouth because they got my hopes up and wasted my (and their) time.
