I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cornell University in Mar 2007
Interview
The response I received to my initial inquiry was positive and quick. It was clear the people responsible for hiring were organized. Also, after speaking with a few of the researchers it was clear to me they had an encouraging culture. Furthermore, the people in charge of hiring gave each applicant that reached the interview stage serious consideration.
It was only one meeting with PhD student in which I was asked questions about my resume, skillsets, etc, I got to ask questions at the end as well about the position, expectations, etc
Nothing..because I am a former student there. So I dont have a formal interview actually. It's informal and I am a volunteer there. Also, people are really nice there so if you want to do research, please go there

After getting admitted by the CEE department, I spoke with 5 faculty, all of whom were very welcoming and shared with me their current research. Also got to meet current grad students, all of which spoke positively about their experiences at Cornell.
