      Account Strategist Interview

      Jul 3, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Barcelona
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Criteo (Barcelona)

      Interview

I applied for Account Strategist mid market Italian speaker and was contacted via email after a couple of days to arrange a phone interview. The phone of interview was pretty smooth, the HR asked me regular stuff and how I would explain retargeting to a 6 yo kid. After that I was sent a quiz to do online within 48 hours time. I was surprised that the quiz for the AS was exactly the same they give to Analysts and it’s the one you can find here except with different figures; in my opinion it is quite hard if you do not deal with these kind of formulas on a daily basis. The day after I was sent an email that I passed the test and we scheduled a bluejeans appointment with the team lead. Although I read that the 3rd round would be quite technical, I was not asked anything about product knowledge or Criteo, we made a call simulation and talked about my background with the Account strategist manager. After 4 days I got an email that I had passed to the final stage which consisted of a PPT sales simulation to the Criteo Sales Manager and the Head of Sales where I’d optimize a campaign a pitch recommendations to a current client (them). The case was not easy especially because they give you 0 information about how the Criteo algorithm works (it’s different than Google or Facebook). It took more than 1 hour and both where asking questions and make observations all the time. I was good but not perfect due to the fact that I could not have known how their ecosystem works in details, therefore I did not pass it. All in all it was a good experience but it seemed really like they are abandoning the startup spirt to become a normal company with real rigid structure and boring procedures. (The presentation thing especially was quite long and unoriginal) The only things I can complain about was the lack of communication and unprofesionalism of the specific HR who did not attend a couple of appointments and promised me assistance for the presentation but then never replied any of my emails. The fact is also that they demand an in-depth knowledge of their product without offering any sort of resource (Website and google search are very basic sources compared with what they ask) and if the HR offers help but then doesn't consider you it becomes hardly possible. Despite I sacrificed my working days preparing for these interview and arrived until the very last stage I never had an official response from the HR until I asked...I found that quite unprofessional.

Todo se desarrollo normal hasta la entrevista final con un business case study. Me quedé sin noticia y sin feedback despues... Los recursos humanos tienen que tener respeto por el tiempo y trabajo que un candidato dedica para un proceso.

      Interview

Started with HR and the moves to Managers. Both teams were very competent and the process was smooth. It lasted around 3 weeks the questions were relevant and the timing was correct. Enough time to prepare and good feedbacks received after each interview round. I eventually accepted the offer.

      I interviewed at Criteo

      Interview

It was a 4 round process; screen call, 1st interview with the hiring manager, panel interview with their team, and lastly a mock presentation in front of the hiring manager and 2 other managers. Wasted a month of time going all the way through for a rejection. Quickly came to see after that many people in this position do not look like me; they are mainly white and even more so, white women. Think its pretty obvious why I didn't get the role. Unless you're applying to this company for anything outside client facing stuff, you probably won't be hired if you are a POC.
