Interview
I attended the career fair at the University of Georgia in the fall of 2017 and got an interview in UGA's career center. The interview went well as the director of Engineering asked me a few questions about the things I had done on my resume and asked me to design a database schema. Then I had to solve two straighforward algorithms (i.e. fizzbuzz, and multiples of n).
I was invited to the on-site interview in the Atlanta office. They drilled me on Java, JavaScript, databases, and what I was looking for in a full-time job. A few of the programming questions included printing all the strings in an arraylist, rearranging an array of 1s and 0s to have all 0s on one side and all 1s on the other. I asked if they wanted a a certain runtime since I had a linear time solution but the director of engineering said "they still teach you guys that." So from my understanding it seems algorithmic efficiency is not on their list of questioning.
Four interviewers interviewed me for approximately four hours and each one said I should hear back soon and that I'd be a great fit. However, it took them almost 3 weeks to get back to me and I got a quintessential automated rejection. I was bummed out and asked my recruiter what went wrong in my application. After sending tonnes of emails to both the director and the recruiter, I have not recevied a reply till date. However, the principal software engineer was a very nice guy and gave me some feedback on LinkedIn.
I am guessing they rejected me cause I am an international student at the undergraduate level and one of my friends suggested they were looking for graduate students.
Hope this review helped anyone looking for information.
