I applied online at DSW.com on a Sunday afternoon. Monday afternoon at 5 the operations manager called me and set up an interview for Wednesday afternoon. The interview went really well, I showed up about five minutes early and looked around the store for a few minutes first. The interview lasted about thirty minutes. The operations manager was the one who asked the questions, but the store manager was in the opposite corner on the computer the entire time.
Just an fyi, when you fill out the online application, you take an assessment. Based on a skill set that the company has pre-determined a person needs to succeed at the specific position at DSW, you are scored on a table of 0-100. You are not told your score at the end of the assessment, but if you score over a 60, that's when the actual store will get the application and they will call you. If you are not called, you failed the assessment. Bottom line. The questions you got wrong on the assessment are the ones the interviewer will ask you in the interview, maybe to just get a feel for why you said what you did. But the interviewer won't tell you this. I found this out like six months after I was hired.
On Friday, two days after my interview, the manager called me and offered me the part time job, starting wage $8.50 an hour.
