Recruiting reached out to me within a week of submitting my resume, and from there some things were a little off. Initially I was asked to schedule a screening call and was scheduled half an hour virtually with one person. Two people showed up to the call and it was quickly apparent that it was a first round interview. I was asked various questions, but only left three minutes to ask any questions of my own and was cut off after aaking only one. The email I received with the invitation had strict instructions to “make sure to show up wearing business casual” although it was a virtual meeting (very micromanaging!) I waited 2.5 days to be scheduled for a final interview, which I had to schedule a week out. This interview was also scheduled for only half an hour. The conversation was great, and I felt that I was getting along with the manager well, but was only allowed time to ask a few questions. I received an offer the next day at the low end of the salary range. I countered with a higher rate, still within the salary range I was told at the beginning of the interview process, and that’s at the cap. I was also told off hand that the pay rate and offer were for a lower role than I’d been interviewing for. I reached back out after one day had passed to see if there were updates and was told that talent acquisition was still waiting on an answer. I then received a call from the head of TA asking if I had accepted an offer, and at that point asked for clarification about the title I interviewed for and the offer I received. They told me that I needed a certification to get the original role I interviewed for (never once mentioned in the interview process, or on the job requisition) and then that neither of those positions were available but I could be offered an even lower pay rate and title. I felt like I’d received a bait and switch, very confusing and unprofessional hiring process. I was also asked in both interviews “what is a red flag for you when starting a new job?” THIS! What a weird interview question considering this kind of hiring behavior is happening.
