I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (New York, NY) in Mar 2023
Interview
Speedy- 3 rounds. First round is a simple phone screen. Second round was a technical discussion with an engineering manager. The third and final round was a 4 hour super interview, 1 hour with a fellow PM going through a case study (aka full product lifecycle), 1 hour going through a system design case (use YouTube/ exponent to study) this one is very technical, and 1 hour break, 1 hour on strategic questions (employee interviewing noted that they hated Datadog, was a very uncomfortable hour), final hour with an engineering manager going over more of a resume review and how you work with engineers. Did this super day, did not get the offer. I asked HR about their gender breakdown as well as I asked the fellow female PM that I interviewed with, both HR and she noted that they are working on it, but it’s pretty bad.
I cold applied online and heard back about a week later. I then had a screener call with a recruiter who super friendly. The call didn’t require any preparation. They asked pretty straight forward questions about my experience.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (New York, NY) in Feb 2026
Interview
1st round is a recruiter screening. typical questions asked like tell me about yourself, why do you want to work here. 2nd round is a hiring manager round to go into more detail on experience and technical background. there is a discussion about the specific product that you would own. Lastly there is a panel round with 2 behavior and 2 technical interviews with product and engineering leaders.
Straight forward process, last round consists of analytical, engineering collaboration, technical, and case study. I felt that the technical interview was easier than what I’d have thought. Case study interview feels a bit subjective since it had something to do with one of Datadog’s products. Recruitment process as a whole was transparent and I love that they give you feedback at the end.
