Gaslit And Slightly Demeaning...
This was Ceridian's basic recipe, for my Architect interview:
1.) Ask random, conversational, rapid-fire technical and background questions
2.) Don't give the interviewee time to answer any of them
3.) Blame the interviewee for not meeting some odd, narrow, undisclosed set of standards
4.) Lather, rinse, repeat
I smiled my entire way through the interview and even laughed at points. I know I was technically strong during the interview, and remained polite and professional throughout. There was no conflict or disagreement, at least none on my part. They stated they felt I was a strong architect.
I thought things had gone well, despite their aggressive approach to interviewing. I had even enjoyed the conversation, despite the aforementioned. So, when they came back with "we think their personality may be difficult to get along with", I was fairly well surprised. Seriously? As polite and informative as I know I was, during a round of random questions thrown out at equally random discussion, while being constantly interrupted?
Pray tell : where, specifically, did my professionalism break down?
You need to adjust either your process, your expectations, or both. Sometimes, what you get out of something is exactly what you deserve, based on what you've put into it. In which case, don't blame the victim. We're already on the spot. We don't need additional or superficial pressures.
I feel as if my experience, and the effort to condense it into Ceridian's time slot and approach greatly undervalue my work and experience. Also, I want my time back.
