I applied online and was called about two weeks later to come onsite for an interview. I interviewed with three team members on a Monday and was told they were only interviewing on Monday and Tuesday and would have a decision by mid to end of the week. We interviewed in a training room so we could social distance during Covid. I had about 20 standard questions about investigations, leave, orientation, etc. One of the interviewers often wasn't paying attention or barely taking notes. When I was giving answers, I was sure to look at all three of them and he was often looking off into space. Afterwards, instead of being contacted while still having no feedback on next steps, the job reposted. This left a bad taste in my mouth as being very inconsiderate and unprofessional. A week or two passed, and it was close to Christmas so I called someone on the HR team to ask what was going on. I was told they had to repost the job because they didn't interview enough candidates. I didn't believe that but I reassured her I was still interested in the role. In mid January, I received an email saying I wasn't selected. No courtesy to reach out and let me know after wasting my time. I feel as a representative of our county/city/etc. that they should be handling this process much better. I was discussing this with my friend who is also in HR and she told me how horrible her experience was years ago that they made an offer to another candidate and it didn't work out so they called her back to see if she was interested. I am not surprised by the lack of professionalism.
