Contacted by HR/Recruiter for an initial gating interview, which went well. She indicated that she would be sending my information with positive recommendation for next steps to the hiring manager and that I should expect direct contact for subsequent interviews. There was no further contact, I reached out for status a few weeks later and her response was she was unsure of the hiring managers status. I was advised through peers later that they hired internally. This is understandable but not communication with strong potential candidates is unprofessional and shortsighted.
