Applied online, was reached out to after a few days to schedule an interview. First interview was great, second interview was fine. Was pretty much ghosted until I reached out to my first interviewer and was told that they moved on to someone else. Overall okay experience
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DigitalOcean (New York, NY) in Sep 2017
Interview
30 minute Google Hangout interview with Hiring Manager, followed up by a 4 hour onsite interview.
As a Recruiter I often find myself overanalyzing the interview process when I'm a candidate, since it would theoretically be the department I'd join, and I have to say DigitalOcean put a really impressive emphasis on candidate experience. Communication was fast and feedback was detailed. Despite parts of the team being away at a conference, they still prioritized my offer process instead of letting it sit and wait until after the conference which truly showed their dedication to future employees.
It was clear DigitalOcean had seen feedback from previous years on Glassdoor and genuinely took the time to fix the issues, which few startups actually bother to do. This was likely the easiest offer acceptance decision I've made thus far in my career.
