I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at DraftKings (Sofia, Sofia (city)) in Jan 2026
Interview
The technical assessment for this "Senior SRE" position was highly inconsistent with the actual responsibilities of Site Reliability Engineering. The interview focused almost exclusively on Generic Cloud Architecture (manual VPC design, CI/CD pipeline construction, and basic web hosting) rather than core SRE competencies like error budgets, distributed systems reliability, or incident response.
There is a clear disconnect between the job title and the evaluation criteria. The company seems to be looking for a Full-Stack Cloud Architect/Infrastructure Engineer but titling and compensating it at an SRE level. Furthermore, the compensation package discussed was significantly below the current market rate for the "Senior" level of expertise they were testing for.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Be prepared for a "Build-from-scratch" architectural exam rather than a Reliability or Systems engineering deep-dive. If you are a specialized SRE looking for high-level reliability work (SLIs/SLOs, toil reduction, or observability at scale), you may find this role is actually a Generalist DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure position in disguise.
