      Interview

This process felt very opaque and impersonal. There was no correspondence other than the initial interview scheduling. After the phone call, they totally forgot to let me know that they were moving on until I reached out. When I did, they sent an automated message devoid of any emotion. Also, the fact that they describe the initial phone call as a "Behavioral Assessment" made it feel like a psychological examination. I did not like that.

      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Duolingo (New York, NY) in Oct 2022

      Interview

Recruiter screen, HM interview, take home assignment, finally presentation & interviews with different team members. Everyone was friendly throughout the process and it moved quickly. Just as a precaution, the take home assignment does take a great deal of time (much more then the recruiter estimate) and it is their company policy to not provide feedback on submission. Countless other Glassdoor reviews across different functions will note similar experiences, and in hindsight I wish I would’ve known this before dedicating so much time to complete the task. I’ve interviewed widely between other tech companies, and I have to say this process felt uniquely one-sided. In addition to the recruiter being 10+ minutes late to the screener, all in all not a great experience with no consideration for an applicant’s time.

      Question 1

Basic interviews questions, tell me about a time you’ve used data, worked with others, etc.
