      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Malmesbury, England
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Dyson (Malmesbury, England)

      Interview

The interview process was straightforward, chat with HR and technical interview with the hiring managers. Not much was told about the role I was going to do. In fact the taxi driver who dropped me off at Dyson gave me more information about their new business than they did which speaks quite a bit about the communication skills of the managers. The hiring managers (2 of them) grilled me about system engineering process and I was asked to draw architecture diagrams on paper. A lot of questions were asked within 2 hours leaving no room for me to ask questions. They were also very impatient and most of the time I was cut off before I could finish my answer. In the end I received the job offer but they did not pay up to expectations so I refused. Location is quite poor as Malmesbury is a very small village quite far away from any city with only one main road leading to and away from it. Public transportation is not great either. What was very disappointing was the unprofessional attitude of the HR. They had promised to reimburse the travel expenses that I had incurred for the interview. But once I refused the job offer they simply stopped answering my emails. I had already been warned by several people who had interviewed with them before that it is a cheap company and will not meet my expectations. But I had not realised that it would be so cheap that the HR would simply refuse to answer my calls or emails. Its one thing to refuse to pay because I didnt accept the offer but quite another to stop communicating. In the end I am glad I did not take the job as they all seemed very unprofessional and uncouth and the HR is a crucial part of an employee's existence within a company.
