Interview
I applied for Design Engineer position and I got invited for an interview for mechanical engineer role. During the interview we went through my CV, portfolio and then I was getting some technical questions to answer. Most of them were from mechanics. After a while I got offered to interview for a junior position. Being interviewed for a junior role I got questioned more about my experience and projects I worked on than I got at my first interview and I did not receive any technical questions.
During the first interview I felt like my skills were being assessed whether I am suitable for the role or not, whereas the second interview gave me negative feeling of being interrogated and belittled and trying to prove me I am not good for the role. It felt as if they knew they do not want me from the minute they saw me... That would also explain why no technical questions were asked.

Question 1
1st interview: explain 2 designs from portfolio, how would I design an assembly process for a part, what joins to use, how to ensure the quality of fixations. What I know about NPD process.
The overheating process and preventing it (cooling system, redesign etc.), materials the parts are made from, how gearbox works (input and output etc).
2nd interview: my favourite module at the uni, the projects I have done at the uni, explain one design example form the portfolio.
Teams interview with 30mins discussing applicant background and suitability for the position.
Followed by 15mins of technical questions, including theoretical situations that the applicant has to describe what they would do and how they would achieve that.
The final 15minutes is set aside for over-run and Q&A from the applicant to the interviewers regarding the role and the company.

Initial stage, design challenge on the spot - with a new concept. A cross section Q and A, and a portfolio review. Very friendly though, was on teams and lasted 60mins
