I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at EY in Jan 2025
Interview
The process was well organized, although lengthy. A total of 8 rounds. My recruiter was great, she communicated well at every stage. I enjoyed all my interviews and thought I was positioned well. During round 6, a new requirement was brought into the conversation. It was never mentioned prior and wasn't on the job req. It was a skill I clearly did not have and I was very transparent about that. That's where the whole process stalled.
Although I can't prove it, I suspect that that last interviewer wanted someone younger. The new requirement wasn't something anyone else in a similar role had and I think it was just an excuse to remove me from consideration. It doesn't help that one of the comments made during the interviews was that partners are forced to retire at 60. I don't know if that's accurate or not, but it certainly brings attention to the possibility for some age related bias.
