A recruiter made inital contact and set up the interview with a great manager which went very well. Then another interview with a couple of members of manager's group followed where I showed my previous work. They too gave me impression to be guys who worked in a great team so I got really interested in the position. They too were happy since I fit the profile perfectly. They needed a senior software engineer with expertise in specific area. What recruiter didn't tell me immediately was that CCAT test is needed for employment at every company owned by Equity Vista Partners and this one is one of them. Had I known this in the beginning, I would have not entered the process. Recruiter had me signed up for CCAT preparation website to practice for the test and I did diligently. At the end, I didn't pass the test so the employment there was not possible anymore. They don't give you what your results are, nor by how much you didn't pass, supposedly for legal reasons which already tells you the testing of this type is fishy. And in fact, it's nothing but a disguised IQ test on steroids. IQ test has been declared illegal for employment 50 years ago in US because it is discriminatory, so now they call it cognitive aptitude test after adding some graphs and algebra questions to IQ questions. The key here is extremely short time to do questions which was deliberately done to fail majority of people and to supposedly pass only the "smart" ones, but actually it has nothing to do with your real abilities to solve difficult problems which in real life are not constrained with time because simply, guess what, not many can solve them. Dividing 2 decimal numbers in 15 seconds without a calculator is not a predictor of your problem solving skills, but they want to convince you it is. Knowing how to approach and solve difficult problems is a life long skill you perfect throughout your career in your field and telling what the next number in a sequence of numbers, or how some circles or triangles move from picture to picture, or some meaningless rotations of dots, has nothing to do with it. So, just say no. Look for companies who treat you as human beings in your totality actually. Avoid.
