Saw listing on LinkedIn a number of months prior. Looked at reviews on Glassdoor, which were not positive. Multiple reviews detailed a bad atmosphere and bad behavior from the same group of people. Decided not to apply. Handful of months later and still unemployed. Decided to apply anyway since 1. the negativity seemed like it might have been limited in this particular department, and 2. I could at least use the job to gain some resume fodder and money and then leave after a year or two for something better. Odd that same position was still available, this was a warning sign. After a couple of weeks, got email asking for a phone interview. Phone interview goes well, about 30 minutes. Get asked to come in for in-person interview. Do that, seems like I would be a great fit. Odd that they mention the position is for senior level, but the posting never lists this. I have good experience and a good amount specifically with something their existing senior developer is lacking. Great, seems like I would definitely have a good shot. Over a week goes by, finally hear from them. Get a "restructuring the teams so the position is on hold" line. Roundabout way to say no. Hmmm, maybe the restructuring should have been thought over internally before posting the position and wasting people's time with interviews when you clearly aren't intending to hire anyway. Two days later, get a generic rejection email. That's odd, I figured that was the point of the email with the "restructuring" line. A week or so later, browsing LinkedIn jobs and what do you know, I see the exact same position again. Guess when it was posted (re-posted I should say), the day I got the "restructuring" email. I still see the same position being re-posted over and over months later. This seems like a total scam. To clarify, the company is not a scam, but these postings sure seem to be disingenuous. They must be getting some tax breaks or something for posting "jobs" because I can't think of any other reason to waste time with this circus act.
