      BOA Branch Office Administrator Interview

      Feb 8, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Edward Jones in Jan 2023

      Interview

It’s been 6 weeks and 7 different interviews (1 phone, 1 video, 4 in person with 3 different advisors). There’s not a single job on the planet worth a process like that. I’m moving on and not even bothering waiting for an offer at this point. The only way to MAYBE lower the total interview time is to limit your applications to just one location and hope they don’t auto reject you. I put an application for 5 locations as the commutes were all relatively the same- I probably wouldn’t have bothered and stuck to the 3 “best ones” if I could do it over again. The questions probed in my personal life (non financial questions- asking if I planned to move or if I had “personal” goals that clearly wanted to know if I’d marry or have kids or something). The personalities of the FAs will range radically, and who you like and don’t like will obviously depend on your own personality and ability. I met with 3 different ones and I liked one, one was okay but just kind of there, and the other insulted my intelligence and basically called me in to tell me backhanded compliments to full blown questioning my resume. My professional references they requested multiple times were never contacted despite them being my previous supervisors that can easily back up everything my resume shows. I have been in the working world for a long time and worked very hard for some impressive achievements that little to no people can claim, especially for how consistently I’ve performed at every company I worked. My advise to Edward Jones is to shove it with all the interviews. Phone interview with a recruiter and an in person with an advisor. I did recruiting and hiring and did just fine with 2 interviews to hire in similar industries to ones that were way faster paced. This system you have going on now is a waste of every single applicants time because even fresh out of high school faces don’t have months to maybe get an offer and take days off to interview. If you need tons of interviews and assessments from a candidate, you either aren’t paying attention or you shouldn’t be in a position to hire anyone because you lack the training and the intuition to filter though applications.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They will ask about how you handle situations with clients (Phone etiquette, managing multiple tasks in front of people, etc) If you have any experience in customer service from just about any industry these questions are very standard and bland.

      Interview

Digital interview first, if you advance, then a screening call from the recruiter. If you advance, then you meet the recruiter/ FA over Zoom. They see if you'd be a good fit at the office by asking situational questions.

The on demand interview and the phone interview with the recruiter were easy to complete. I'm looking forward to the Zoom interview and the next steps in the interview process.
