I received an email with skills test. After an hour of solving several technical pro without being allowed to use any resources for reference. Received no follow-up on the test so I guess I didn't do well enough.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Identify materials
Gear problem
Several statics problems
Bolt screw force problem
Etc.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Electroimpact (Mukilteo, WA) in May 2014
Interview
The entire interview/hiring process is fairly unconventional as the process starts with an online test that covers the basics of mechanical engineering with a focus on forces, material properties, and statics/dynamics.
Following the test, there is a quick phone screening with the CEO to set up a day to come in for an in-person interview.
The in-person interview is an all-day event where you meet with HR before meeting with seemingly random engineers who happen to have time and are in the mood to interview a new-hire. They ask you basic questions about your resume (it seems pretty unorganized so you will likely repeat your story multiple times throughout the day)
If all the interviews go well, you usually meet the CEO. However, he was busy the day I was there so I spoke with him over the phone.

Question 1
They emphasize engineering hobbies. They consistently asked about the cars that I worked on outside of work.
