Completely Horrible Process. After speaking with HR it took them until the day before the interview (one week) to confirm the interview and provide the location. After arriving for the interview there it was one mess after another. First, there was no space for the actual one on one interview, so we met in a large open room with chairs that were semi organized but still not a professional first impression.
Once we were seated it was the normal run through, tell me about yourself, talk me through your resume, why do you want to work here questions, all the normal HR and personality type questions. I expected these questions and came prepared with a complete financial analysis of their last available financial report and custom financial models to give credibility to my abilities listed on me resume. It was as I was going through and explaining what I see and showcasing skills they requested the hiring manager kept checking their phone for messages from one of the VP. This, along with the interview room issue, that they did not want to be preforming this interview.
After one VP arrived, this person asked the same questions that were just asked by the manager. I could tell neither of them even glanced at my resume beforehand and the VP did not want to be there because this person just came out of an “important meeting”. As we were leaving, neither the manager nor the VP had business card and I quickly wrote down the manager's email so I could do the professional thing and still send thank you emails. This was the final sign, at the physical interview, that I was not going to be offered this position.
Even after everything follow-up emails were sent within 24 working hours after the interview. I wanted to continue to be professional and finish out the interview process. Emails were sent to both the hiring manager and the Director of HR but, only the manager replied. The email stated that they were still working through the process and the Director of HR would follow up with the decision.
After three weeks after the thank you emails were sent, a follow-up letter was sent to the Director inquiring about where they were in the process and/or if there was anything they required from me. This email received no response for over a week and half.
While this was not my worst interview ever (had someone nod off during a one on one), this was a close second. If you are a part of this organization I would recommend you take a long look at the people you have employed in these positions and wonder if they are blocking you from bringing in the best people to grow your organization and create your “forever Elwyn.”
