I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at EvergreenHealth in Jul 2018
Interview
I was brought in by the hiring manager, who had not created a formal structure for the interview. I was placed into a room with 9 team members, which immediately set an intimidating precedent.
I was asked questions in a manner that made me feel unwelcome and unqualified, despite possessing a doctorate, and my interview team mostly consisted of clinical staff below a doctorate level.
The process itself lasted approximately 1 hour, with no formal structure or questions, with each team member firing off questions as they thought of them.
The team itself presented as an in-group, and emphasized repeatedly that they were a "family" looking for a "good fit." While this is standard for most small-team interviews, it came off as hostile within this environment.
After the interview, I was sat down with the hiring manager and we talked for about 30 minutes. I was told that I would be brought it for another interview the following week, and this had not been explained to meprior. The interview was to consist of several people outside of the clinical informatics department; specifically members of departments within my clinical specialty that were not member of the clinical informatics team. The reason for this was not clear, considering that the other departments were not involved in the hiring process. Since this department hires throughout the clinical spectrum (MA, RN, RT, PharmD, MD), I got the sense this was an ad libbed step tied into the internal politics between departments.
After not hearing back from the hiring manager after 2 weeks of waiting, I sent an e-mail to check in, and received no response.
Overall the entire process was very unorganized, unprofessional, and I got the sense this team does not know what they are looking for. Additionally there are possibly unseen internal politics in-play that work hard to keep thishealthcare system incestuous.
