      Controller's Analyst Interview

      Apr 28, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Budapest
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ExxonMobil (Budapest) in Oct 2015

      Interview

Very basic which follows common steps as any over big company would. You send your application, afterwards they invite you for a phone call where they test your English knowledge and basic accounting skills. (e.g. Balance sheet, Debit/Credit) If you're referred, the process is very quick and you got could get done in 2 weeks tops. Next they send you a numeric test, which takes about 20 minutes to complete. Then the F2F interview follows. There's 2 rounds, with 2 interviewees. They have a predefined set of questions that basically looks into your past experiences, be it a school project or at your previous workplace. They try to assess based on your examples how good of a fit you'd be for the company. In my case there were no accounting related questions, however some people stumbled upon those who bombarded them with lots of difficult questions. Evaluation process after the interview takes 5 days after which you either get in or not. Tip: Make sure to be as specific as possible during the interview in asking them what departments they have and were you could fit in. They do ask you but on a very general level and you might end up anywhere basically. This is not necessarily a bad thing but many jobs here are monotonous and less challenging, so it's best to at least choose yourself rather than be placed by accident.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ExxonMobil (Budapest) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I applied to this position online. I received a phone call from a recruiter 10 days after I submitted my application. This phone call was mainly in English to test my language skills and at the end of the call I got an invitation for a personal interview to their Budapest offices. The interview took place a week later and it was 1,5-2 hours long. The interviewers were a senior manager and his colleague and there was no HR involved. At first they introduced themselves and gave me a brief introduction to the departments at the company. This really put the pressure off of me. After my introduction there was a few basic questions regarding my background and my motivation joining them. Then followed the main part of the interview with some behavioural questions. After that they asked some accounting questions and also wanted to know the level of my Excel skills.
