I interviewed for Lead DevOps Engineer position with the Modern Technology or Engineering team and was interviewed by the Senior Manager of DevSecOps. Based on reviews I had seen here and on other forums, I didn’t go into the process with a particularly high opinion of the organization. The interview began with a discussion of my background, followed by an overview of the team, their day-to-day tasks, and their plans for the coming years. The conversation quickly became technical, which honestly surprised me as I didn’t expect someone in management to be hands-on technically, but it was clear the interviewer knew the subject matter well. I struggled a bit with a few container-related questions, but the interviewer was patient and even recommended some online articles which I later found them genuinely interesting, Toward the end of the interview, he was upfront and explained that while I had solid experience, it wasn’t the right fit for what they are currently looking for and mentioned there may be opportunities in the future and encouraged me to keep an eye out. Although I was disappointed not to get the position, the interview itself was structured well and left a positive impression. It seems that the experience can really depend on who you end up interviewing with.
