      Frontline Manager Interview

      Nov 8, 2021

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at FedEx (Grayslake, IL) in Nov 2021

      Interview

I applied for a managerial position (front line manager) at this location and got a date for an interview with the hiring manager. After waiting for 30 minutes, I wanted to leave, but I still stayed. Big mistake! After waiting more than 40 minutes, the only thing that happened was that I got disrespected and disregarded. The person who interviewed me presented me with a completely different job description from the one they posted online. When I highlighted the differences between the job post (I printed it out and had it with me) and what he said, he just rolled his eyes and looked annoyed. Practically they did not need a manager; they needed another package sorter with a degree, paid by the hour and the same wage as the package sorters, and this person will claim responsibility for everything. At this point, I just told them I retracted my application, wished them well, and left. They did not seem surprised at all; they asked no questions. Obviously, I wasn't the first or only person who fell for their bait job post, and somehow they expected this to happen. I am glad I left; if a potential candidate gets treated like this at FedEx, I honestly don't want to know how they treat their employees. Their behavior and the fact that no one addresses these reviews from the corporation HR shows how much they care. I consider it weird that they don't even care how many talented people they scare away with these practices. They post another bait job online and wait for others to fall for it. Based on the law of large numbers, sooner or later, they will find someone. Obviously, after this, I don't want to have anything to do with FedEx, not on a job level, and also not as their customer.

      Question 1

No questions. They presented a completely new job description; one that no one would apply for.
