I submitted an application online and was subsequently contacted by their recruiting pro for a telephone screen. This was followed by a face to face interview with the individual who supervises both warehouses in my local metro.
There was a huge disconnect between the details of the opening as given in the original job posting on-line and the impression of the job conveyed by the manager with whom I interviewed face to face. The details of the opening, as described by the recruiter I initially spoke to on the phone, pretty much agreed with those given in the original job posting on-line, but when I got to the warehouse and spoke the regional manager, the story changed – dramatically. The recruiter gave me the impression that the previous warehouse lead was no longer with the company and that they needed to replace him. The recruiter also told me that the lead usually has one assistant during the peak season of the year and that said assistant is only a temporary employee, so that normally the warehouse is a one-man operation. When I arrived for my face to face interview, the regional manager introduced me to a young man whom he identified as the warehouse lead. So if they still have a lead…???? (Please note that the face-to-face was conducted VERY soon after the phone screen.) Someone is lying. This smells of the old bait and switch tactic. I don’t want a temporary job, and if temporary is their intention, they need to be honest and up-front about it instead of toying with people’s lives.
To summarize, basically, STAY AWAY. I wouldn’t touch these snakes with a ten foot pole. I’m just glad that they were so bad at hiding their dishonesty that I was able to detect their trap and avoid it.
