      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Fetch in Jul 2026

      Interview

I filled out an application about 2 weeks before I was emailed for a recruiter screen. On that application were 2 questions about my experience that I answered in great detail. I get to the recruiter screen (a 20 min phone call) and imagine my surprise when they state they have my application in front of them and then asked those exact 2 questions again. This put a bad taste in my mouth since if they actually were looking at my application they would see I had already answered these questions, so now they were wasting both of our time. I was also grilled on how I used Excel at my past job, but I guess I wasn't using it the way the recruiter wanted me to use it because they seemed unsatisfied with my answer. The recruiter lacked significant warmth throughout the call and it felt more like an interrogation than an interview since they had no response to any of my answers and didn't bother with any sort of conversation. By the time I got to my questions for them I had already decided I didn't want to work for them, but asked a few questions and the called ended after about 15 minutes total. I considered emailing them back to bow out of consideration but luckily I did receive a rejection email the next morning so at least they don't ghost candidates. Overall a weird experience, but luckily I have just started my new job search and have done a few other screening calls to know that this one was way below expectations.
