      LEAP Program Interview

      Nov 26, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Boston, MA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Boston, MA) in Nov 2016

      Interview

Simple interview process. Began with a 20 minute phone screen, although it seemed that the recruiter was unprepared. A week later came a video interview, 1 behavioral and 1 technical back to back, 40 minutes each. The interview was pleasant in general, very nice people. Behavioral interview is more conversational, rather than plain question and answer. Questions mostly about the projects you've worked on, they ask you to talk about the difficulties and how you handled them, the challenges you faced, what's hard about delegating, working in teams, etc. I was project manager in a lot of parts in my resume and they asked me a lot about how I run my team and the difficulties about dealing with clients. The questions are really based on you and your experiences. Make sure to be ready to talk about EVERYTHING in your resume, even the small, unrelated things. I was caught off guard in that. On technical, they ask you about Java, SQL, and basic programming skills as well as the SDLC, particularly about Agile. The process was quick. Literally 5 minutes after the interview I got an e-mail asking me if they could call me and they informed me of the good news. Overall, just take a deep breath. The interviewers are very very nice and they try hard not to make you nervous.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What is an INNER JOIN or OUTER JOIN in SQL? How do you insert into a table in SQL? Reverse a String in any programming language. Code a multiplication table. What is a user story? What is a scrum meeting?

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments in Sep 2024

      Interview

I applied 9/20/2024. The process took about 3 weeks. First is the phone screening - standard behavioral questions, know the 4 principles of OOP, have knowledge of the SDLC, SQL, Java. It is important to be enthusiastic and demonstrate that you have done your research into the company and want to join. I was able to schedule the final interview at the end of this phone screening but that is not always the case I have heard. The final interview is the technical. I have researched and found that this part can differ widely depending on who is interviewing you. In some cases, it barely included any technical stuff and was more behavorial where others it was entirely technical. In my case it was entirely technical. It started with being displayed an HTML file and being asked to describe it, then asked to make various changes to the code to reflect what the interviewer asked. Then proceeded to SQL where I was asked to explain basic queries and then to create a few simple ones, the last example included using INNER JOIN. The last step was Java where I was asked to create a function and then explain its time complexity. Overall a positive experience and the interviewers were helpful and did their best to help you succeed.
