      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments in Jul 2017

      Interview

It was a phone interview that took about 15 minutes. After some questions about myself, I was asked some general behavioral questions. It is a good idea to know what a Series 7 and 63 license is, what the position entails, and just general information about the company.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Covington, KY) in May 2023

      Interview

I sent my CV and cover letter on a Friday. The following Monday, a recruiter got back to me and set up an initial phone screening, which we had the next day. The recruiter was very friendly and informative about the job. There were also a few behaviour-based questions (e.g. “Tell me about a time when you went above and beyond to help a customer.”) After our initial call she scheduled my final interview and also sent me some interview tips and practice STAR questions, which was very helpful! I’ve never had a company do anything to prepare you for the next round interviews. With regards to the final interview, it was held over Zoom with a second recruiter and a manager at the branch I’d be working at. I found these interviewers to be quite unfriendly and only focused on their STAR questions. Absolutely no interest in me as a person or my experience. I understand that the main priority is determining whether I’ll be a fit for the position, but it would’ve been nice to have a more friendly/open attitude. In the coming week, after having interviews with other companies, I realised how unwelcoming these interviewers were. The following day, I received an email from my recruiter informing me that they would not be moving forward with my application. She noted what the recruiters perceived to be a strength, along with the weakness that was the cause of my rejection. Overall, I’d give the interview process a B. Given the size and prestige of Fidelity, the recruiting process moves quite quickly, and the initial recruiter was very friendly, helpful, and professional, but the unfriendliness of the final interview put a damper on the experience.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (North Richland Hills, TX) in Sep 2018

      Interview

I applied online through Fidelity’s website, the next day I received an email to take the webcam interview. The webcam interview is done through Hirevue where you have to answer pre-recorded behavioral questions. You have 30 seconds to prepare and then you have to answer. You get a few generic practice questions before you go that you can do as many times as you want, but the real questions only have 2 attempts. This was very awkward and I think a pretty cheap and sleezy way to screen candidates. The second interview is a phone call, i got the email to schedule this one maybe a week and half after the webcam interview. This will take around 30-45 minutes and is just general behavioral questions about customer service and study habits for the series 7. The HR recruiter was very nice, just make sure to have scenarios in mind on good customer service and other general behavioral questions. At the end of the conversation if you did well you’ll be given next steps. You’ll be sent an email to take a 45 question assessment, which you will have to complete in 45 minutes. The assessment is over basic math and attention to detail problems. You will also have to do a Job simulation where you answer staged phone calls, although this isn’t considered in your hiring. After the assessment I got a call a few days later and set up in an person interview. The in person interview is on campus, which is very beautiful. You’re given a quick 10 minute tour then sat in a little office with two managers which bounce questions off of you left and right. I felt like the tour was rushed and we went straight to the interview room, also you’re not given any notice that it will be 2 managers, as the email says you’ll meet with just one... so it is a little deceiving. The interview felt really rushed and more like an interrogation. Again they’re very basic behavioral questions that you can probably find on here. They follow a script but there’s a lot of pressure, one of the managers through out some off the wall questions like “why didn’t I choose a career in a hobby of mine” which seemed weird. Also the call center is casual So don’t overdress like I did. Also they’ll take notes on every thing you say but don’t let that stress you out like it did me. I had to email the recruiter about a week and half later to see if I made a cut and sadly she said they chose people who were licensed, which I don’t think is true.. as the first 10 weeks is dedicated to licensing.

Behavioral interview. Very comfortable. No surprises. Interview flowed with no issues. My responses to questions are what led to the next questions. Process was very smooth and took no more than a week from the first point of contact.
