      Investment Consultant Interview

      Feb 16, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Fidelity Investments

      Interview

Corporate Recruiter ruled me out. Basically it looks like they want an Advisor with a book of business, which is nowhere in the job description. The job has remained open for what seems to be six months. They also seem to steer you towards the call center, so this could just be a bait and switch add.

      Interview

They have you do a credit check, background check, and I believe drug test if you make it far enough in the process. They have you apply and talk to someone at the branch. The next round is you talking over video to one of the hiring managers. The round after that is you talking to their FAs.

      Interview

A couple of phone screenings, but only 2 real interviews. Pretty straightforward questioning. If the first interview went well, the second will probably be very chill and conversational with a quick role-play scenario.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments in Jul 2024

      Interview

I applied for the role. Took about 2 weeks to book an interview with the recruiter. The recruiter asked me questions about my experience, background, why I want to work for Fidelity, and why now. She said she will speak with the branch manager and get back to me within a week. I didn't hear back from her for 2-3 weeks. I sent a follow up email and still didn't hear back. A few days ago, I followed up with the corporate and the next morning the recruiter declined me for the role. After sending her an email, the recruiter called me to explain why they didn't move forward. Her reasons were: 1. My licenses are expired (not true). Plus, Fidelity's site says even if you don't have licenses, you can get them quickly after being hired. 2. I want to become a Financial Consultant, and she was not sure how quickly they will make me a FC. I never said I want to become a FC quickly. I said I'm interested in a career path that leads to being an FC and I'm looking for a 20+ years career path. Overall, the recruiter's controversial feedback and lack of sense of urgency deteriorated my view of Fidelity.
