      Product Marketing Manager Interview

      Feb 10, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at Figma (New York, NY)

      Interview

They reached out to me. Short and a bit weird. It was a Phone screen with very junior recruiter who spent most of the call talking and not much quality in questions or active listening.

      Product Marketing Manager Interview

      Mar 11, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Figma in Feb 2020

      Interview

      1. Referred by a current employee 2. 30-minute Phone call with recruiter 3. 30-minute Phone call with the hiring manager (he was 6 minutes late) 4. Received the most in-depth 3-part project I've ever seen during an interview process. However, I swallowed my gut feeling (that this was some sort of free consulting work) and created a full-fledged marketing plan for a product feature. I created and answered hypothetical questions about whether or not their "Figma Beta" community is ready for launch and even explained why their Sales Team should not be using PDFs as "leave behind assets" in a 6-page portfolio. 5. *UTTER SILENCE FOR FIVE DAYS* 6. I decided to follow up and inquire if the team had reviewed my project. Then, the recruiter informed me that they were no longer moving forward. 7. I received zero feedback on the project, even after following up via email and requesting it from the team. The entire experience was very disheartening and left me with the distinct feeling that my marketing "exercise" was little more than a free consulting session. I felt as though the entire hiring process with Figma was disingenuous from the start. The hiring manager (who was 6 minutes late to our 30-minute call) was shocked to learn through my phone interview that I previously worked in the same department as him at a previous FAANG company. All I can say is that if you treat potential employees like this, I can only imagine what goes on behind closed doors.
