I applied originally for the position Tier 3 Customer Support Engineer. I went through 3 interviews, each with a set of questions which seemed to suggest very different ideas of what the position was.. The COO interview included questions about documentation experience, and even asked for me to submit examples of documentation I'd completed. Not a huge red flag at this point, but I still found it strange that support experience was barely a part of this interview.
The second interview was with Support. By the nature of the questions, you'd have thought I was interviewing as a front-end engineer, as the questions were very geared towards gauging coding experience. While I have coding background, it was hard for me to understand how this was an interview as the same position where I had just been asked for writing samples.
The third interview was with the CEO. I had already read the reviews here about the swiftness of the CEO's anger to escalate, and the likelihood of the CEO to simply hang up if he didn't like the answer given. While he did not hang up on me, I definitely had the sense that he was ready to disengage at every turn.
The single most concerning thing about the experience is that the position title changes throughout the interview process, from Tier 3 Customer Support Engineer to Documentation Writer, Training Creator, and Customer Success. In my final chat with the COO when we discussed my offer, I questioned the COO about this. He apologized and said he thought he had informed me sooner that they had deliberately updated the title, because they were finding that they weren't getting the type of candidate they were looking for. This was obviously a flat-out lie, because the position has since been reposted several times under the same original title.
Files.com does not seem to have a clear sense of what they are looking for in this position or how to identify quality candidates. Combine that with the lies and other reviews -- just stay away.
