I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at First American Bank (Elk Grove Village, IL) in Nov 2015
Interview
Pretty basic and personable. They ask intelligent and applicable questions. Be prepared to know about the bank and its history. I interviewed twice. One with the person who would supervise me and then with that persons supervisor.
They advertised the job as an "Assistant Branch Manager". When you go in for the interview that is when they provide you with a job description of an "Assistant Branch Manager TRAINEE" and advise that is what you’re being interviewed for. Where do employers get off advertising for one position and then switching it at the interview? They want to pay you hourly for this position, yet tell you after 9-12 months of training (all over the state of Illinois) you will then AFTER PASSING an assessment panel; be placed in an Assistant Branch Manager position/salaried - not guarantying you would be placed in the branch applied to. If someone is applying for this level of management; they definitely are well versed in the financial industry not needing 9-12 months of training. This training is for all BASICS - teller, customer service, call center, loans, etc. It would appear that what they are doing is getting QUALIFIED individuals and utilizing them to staff shorthanded branches paying them a "trainee" hourly wage. Great for them….qualified individuals yet they pay them squat. If you can’t trust them to be honest when they advertise a position; why would they be honest after you accept it? Beware - seems underhanded.
