I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at First Republic (San Francisco, CA) in May 2018
Interview
I applied online and was asked to do a phone interview. I did the phone interview and was asked to come in for an in-person interview. The recruiter did not get back to me in the time that she said she would, and I sent a follow-up email as things can get busy. She asked me to fill out an application so I could move forward with the interview process and meet with others the next week. I filled out the application, and then I heard nothing. The recruiter decided to completely ignore any follow up emails and did not send a rejection. It was definitely very leading. Clearly the recruiters are overworked but as they are the face of the company to potential candidates, you should take more off their plates.
Additionally, the interview did not go as planned since the team member I would be directly working with was in another meeting. I offered to meet at another time and they instead substituted someone else. I understand meetings come up, but perhaps adjusting and being flexible should also be on your plate.
Lastly, most people in the interview asked me what concerns I had, to the point that I wondered if I should have concerns about the company.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
We need people to come in here with an action plan when they start the job as we have a high volume of work. What is your action plan for starting on the first day and not falling behind?

Interview
I think I dodged the bullet by not joining this outdated uncreative organization - good there was no offer. Obviously it was not a culture fit. I do agree with other interviewees - all those reviews I read before the interview are true:
1) interview process is very lengthy - sometimes you wonder why do they need 2-3 hours with 4-5 people.. who ask the same questions!
2) the interviewers lacked any passion about their job. Red flag! When asked what innovations in HR industry excited them - or new tools they wanted to use - all of them looked blank.
3) they are 10 or even more years behind in technology - those reviews about this are absolutely true... they haven’t heard about any latest tools in the industry . Use outdated HRIS and payroll systems.
4) also it is true how people mention this company lacks any diversity in workplace. All people (with an exception of one Asian American employee) I saw in the office were all corporate type white middle aged and older, mostly men. And this is in San Francisco, one of the most diverse cities in the US - unbelievable.
5) finally, their work environment is very low energy, old school, everything from furniture in the conference room to the tools and equipment they use - is like 15 years old.
One of the most boring and uncreative environments and people I’ve seen: everyone seemed like even afraid to show initiative or share an idea - or, even have an opinion.
