The interview process took forever between the first contact with HR and the job offer. I had actually concluded I wasn't going to get the job about a month and a half or so before the offer finally came in.
That said, the interview began with a meeting with my eventual boss in his office. He also had me meet several other individuals from the company, and my understanding was that each of them had a fair amount of input in the process as well.
The experience with HR, however, was more negative. A number of things I was told did not come to pass, and several of the supposed benefits I was told came with a job at the company either did not exist at all or were significantly less attractive once one transitioned from the "tourist" to the "resident" phase.
Suggestion: tape record any conversation with HR.
