The entire process took approximately 10 weeks. My initial calls and coordination with the recruiter seemed to go well, with me stressing that my focus is primarily in Cloud engineering individual contributorship, and less experienced in tech leadership however with a strong interest. I then spoke with the technical cofounder, as well as a third party technical interview, both who appeared very excited based on our discussions. A couple days after, the recruiter stressed interest in an onsite, where I met the rest of the subsidiary company under NDA, all which for the most part went extremely well from my perspective. Afterwards an additional followup with the recruiter to speak to salary expectations and timing, as well as a conversation with the director of cloud engineering at the parent company. The director took the call while walking his dog on a busy New York street, so seemed uninterested in the discussion. The recruiter told me he would let me know by the end of week whether the team wished to move forward. Two weeks of followups on my end later asking for an update, they went with another candidate, stressing that the were interested in me for a future role in 3-6 months. Today, less than a week after this rejection, I see they have posted a devops role significantly reflecting on the input I had provided during my interview. Overall, I was initially very excited, however now I have a bad taste about this corporation and their lack of initiative / organization. I likely will not pursue another role here due to this misstep.
