I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at FleishmanHillard (Washington, DC) in Aug 2015
Interview
Done over the phone so relatively low pressure. There are a series of questions to answer on the application, none of them terribly hard. You apply three months in advance of the actual internship though, so it's not very helpful if you want to think about doing something else. That's something they should consider changing.

Great! I spoke with HR first and then had the opportunity to meet with the internship coordinator and account executives. Everyone seemed genuinely happy about their work experience and that was translated through my interview process.

I applied in-person. I interviewed at FleishmanHillard
Interview
It was challenging, but reflects the work at the company that the intern will do. The interviewers were very kind and very professional. Open to answering my questions about the internship and the work I would do. The hiring process was also fairly quick, I had two interviews total before finding out that I had been accepted to the internship.
