I was invited onsite for 3 rounds of interviews.
The HR arrived one hour late, and I had to wait in the lobby for that time.
The first round was a machine coding round. The interviewer insisted that I code in C. I hadn't written a single line of C code in 3 years, and I told him I could write Python, Java or Ruby, but I don't remember C syntax. The interviewer said he only agreed to the interview because my resume has C mentioned in it (it is one of the last items in my skills section, because I have done a couple of college projects). He said he only knows C, not even C++. I was surprised, as the invite for the interview, and also other interviewers said that I could code in any language of my choice.
He said he would be lenient on syntax, but he wants me to write C. I felt like C knowledge was a requirement for the role, and agreed. What he did not mention was that Flipkart does not use C (like almost every other internet company, and this was confirmed by the other interviewers as well).
He also did not mention to me that the sole purpose of the round was to get code to compile and run, until the end of the round.
The interview started off thus on a very bad note, and at this point I had lost all interest in joining Flipkart.
However, the other two interviewers were amazing, and they put me at ease. The machine coding round was followed by a DS/algo round.
The final round was the design round.
After the interviews, the HR told me that she would get back to me in 4-5 days. However, I did not hear back from her for 2 weeks. She even ignored my email asking for an update.
In the meantime, I get a mail from another HR at Flipkart which says there are openings.
